‘Pretty Little Liars,’ ‘Arrow’ actors sign up for CBS’ ‘Training Day’ pilot
Is someone looking to move on from Rosewood? It’s a little bit complicated given that they’re not necessarily a regular, but it still looks as though Drew Van Acker could have some work beyond just the occasional “Pretty Little Liars” appearance.
According to a report from Deadline, Van Acker (who plays Jason DiLaurentis on the Freeform drama) is set to appear in the CBS pilot adaptation of “Training Day” as Tommy Campbell, a one-time pro surfer and guy who loves to live on the edge. He has a history working with Frank Rourke (Bill Paxton), a seasoned officer with the S.I.S., the police group at the center of the series. For those who have not heard, the main plot of the show revolves around Rourke being paired with a young, African-American detective.
We’ve also heard that “Arrow” actress Katrina Law, who has been extremely important in her own way to that show as Nyssa al Ghul, has also been brought on board as a detective named Rebecca Lee, someone who was saved from human traffickers at an early age by Paxton’s character.
While this new show would not necessarily stop Van Acker or Law from making further appearances on their respective shows in the event that it is picked up, we do feel a little more like it would be unlikely for them to have as much time in their schedules. We should hear a little bit more about “Training Day” in its future could alter this spring, when CBS holds its upfront presentation for the upcoming season.
