‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5: Did Ginnifer Goodwin just confirm big Belle story?

The fifth season of “Once Upon a Time” may not be returning to ABC with new episodes until we get around to Sunday night, we’ve got an interesting tease that suggests that Belle may be pregnant at some point over the coming months.

Speaking in a new interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” this week in promotion of the new movie “Zootopia,” Ginnifer Goodwin made it clear that one of the reasons why the producers have decided to write out her real-life pregnancy this time around is because there is already so much of it going on with the show. Zelena (Rebecca Mader) recently welcomed a child with Robin Hood (Sean Maguire), while at the same time it wasn’t too long ago when she and Charming welcomed in Baby Neal. Also, Goodwin mentions that one of her other co-stars in Emilie de Ravin is pregnant, and the suggestion is at least there that Belle could also be expecting at some point. Goodwin doesn’t spoil anything, but you can read between the lines here as to why producers wouldn’t want to have to characters on the show expecting at the same time.

As for if Belle being pregnant is a great move for the show, we’d say that for the most part it’s a smart move. It adds another dimension to what is going on between her and Rumpelstiltskin, and for Rumple in particular, it could offer him a shot at redemption after not really being there in the slightest for his own son Neal.
