‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7, episode 14 review: Klaus and Caroline’s conversation and much more

Candice Accola -

Sure, we know that Joseph Morgan has his own series in “The Originals” where we get plenty of opportunities to watch him week in and week out, but how many chances to do you get to see Klaus with Caroline? Yes, we know that the “Vampire Diaries” photo above is an old one, but we really don’t care since it was so much fun to see the two of them around each other again.

Not only that, but in this crossover Klaus was able to read Caroline better than anyone, making it clear to Stefan and everyone else that there is going to be almost no way that she is going to want to detach herself from these children, even if they are not biologically hers. He also managed to relate to her more now given some of his own experience with Baby Hope, otherwise known as the last time the show did something almost-impossible when it comes to a baby.

Ultimately, this was great stuff combining the two shows, and it was also fascinating to see the Stefan / Klaus dynamic after so many years, especially since Stefan effectively was just trying to draw out Rayna with some of his actions here.

While this story was great, there were a lot of other interesting developments in this episode as well. Take, for example, getting a chance to actually learn a thing or two about the Armory and Enzo apparently being an heir to this organization. Enzo remains pretty wicked despite some hand troubles in this episode, and we have no clue how Bonnie is going to end up with him down the road. Damon’s also off feeling rather gloomy right now about his life, which we totally get … but is this really the right way to be? C’mon, Damon!

In the end, this episode was bonkers … and we say this knowing full well that there is another part of the crossover to come. Grade: A-.
