Grammys 2016: Louis CK first TV-oriented winner; Tori Kelly, Pentatonix among performers
The Grammys are a show that mostly prioritizes achievements in music. Meanwhile, we are more of a television news site. How do we try to reconcile the two? The reality is that there are thousands of outlets that are out there who will give you many different angles to the music-oriented winners, so what we’re going to do here instead over the course of the night is focus specifically on some of your favorite TV faces who end up getting awarded trophies on the night.
We’ll refresh this article as the night progresses, to check back often for more updates!
Best Comedy Album – Louis CK, “Live at Madison Square Garden.” In taking home the trophy the “Louie” star beat former “Daily Show” correspondent Wyatt Cenac and also recent “Late Late Show” host Craig Ferguson.
Wait, are there more? At around the 9:00 p.m. Eastern mark of the show, there’s a real shortage of TV-related names, but hey! At least we’ve got former “Sing-Off” champs Pentatonix performing with Stevie Wonder.
Also, Tori Kelly! The former “American Idol” contestant joined Carrie Underwood as a familiar face during the telecast.
In the end, this may be the most disappointing Grammys in a long time when it comes to TV connections. As a matter of fact, one of the few of this kind we really had was getting to see host LL Cool J in action, given that he is a star of “NCIS: Los Angeles” and the host of “Lip Sync Battle.”
