‘Suits’ season 5, episode 11 reaction: Boss promises answers on who turned in Mike
While there may not be a firm answer at the moment following the winter premiere of “Suits” in terms of who turned in Mike Ross, you better believe that there is more information coming soon. More than likely, we’ll learn about the responsible party before the finale. At the moment we’ve seen Trevor and Scottie (two possible candidates) outright deny that they had anything to do with it, and some more investigating will likely be done moving forward.
What’s so fascinating about this is that in plotting out these final six episodes, there was some division in the ranks behind the scenes as to who the responsible party was. This is something that creator Aaron Korsh discussed further in a TV.com interview:
“There was a lot of discussion with the writers and me. … I did have a philosophy that was different from the writers’. There are so many people who would have many reasons for turning him in. It’s not someone out of the blue. I just took a step back and looked at what I wanted that reason to be and who would best fit that.”
We do certainly know that there are plenty of shows out there that really try to milk “shock value” for almost everything that they can, but “Suits” has never really been that show. With that, we figure that the responsible party will probably make a little bit of sense, and it will be up more to the quality of the writing to entertain us than something designed for a quick thrill. Since there is not enough of this sort of subtlety in today’s TV landscape, we’re fine with us not being completely shocked if it turns out that someone familiar is behind the big move.
