‘Suits’ season 5: Creator Aaron Korsh inks new deal; are there long-term implications?

For everyone excited about the direction of “Suits” at the moment, rest assured that the man responsible for steering the ship will be around for a little while longer.

According to Deadline, show creator Aaron Korsh has signed a new two-year deal with Universal Cable Productions, where he will continue along as executive producer of this show while also potentially developing new projects at the same time. “Suits” has already been renewed for a sixth season; while this deal does not guarantee that there will be a seventh, we do view it as a sign of hope that Korsh will still be in business with the studio at that time. We also certainly think there is enough material for season 7, and this show is a tentpole over at USA for the time being.

Speaking per the website about the deal, Korsh had the following to say:

“UCP and USA changed my career by taking a chance on me, and I couldn’t be happier to extend my relationship with the most collaborative Studio and Network I’ve ever been with … Plus, they gave me a new parking space. Which is nice.”

Aaron also offered up a tease on the remainder of season 5, which at the moment is set to feature Harvey without a safety net and Mike Ross without his freedom following his arrest in the summer finale:

“I am tremendously excited about these next episodes as we are finally going to see Mike and Harvey face the consequences of the choice they made five years ago … Everyone will be affected — and when it’s over, none of our characters’ lives will ever be the same again.”
