Caitlyn Jenner criticizes Ricky Gervais over Golden Globes comment

You can now count Caitlyn Jenner officially as being one of the people none too pleased with some of the comments Ricky Gervais made at the 2016 Golden Globes earlier this week. During his opening monologue, Gervais specifically commented on her bravery and transformation, before going on to say that she has not changed stereotypes for female drivers. (He is specifically referring to a fatal car accident that occurred when she was publicly still Bruce Jenner.)

While promoting the upcoming second season of her E! series “I Am Cait” at the TCA Winter Press Tour earlier today, Jenner had the following to say:

“I think what I’m gonna do call is call the Golden Globes and see if they need a new host for next year.”

Ultimately, this may be an occasion where Jenner or any member of her family may not do much to sway the thinking of those in charge. Gervais, love him or hate him, still has people talking about the show, and his defense to all of his comments is that they are done with comedy in mind more so than being politically-correct. He promised that he would offend going into the show, and he did when the dust settled.

The Globes will probably not have an official host named for quite some time moving forward, but we would not be shocked if Ricky is hired again. The only other option would be going with someone new, since we don’t imagine that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler or going to be interested in taking it on again. Our impression was that their previous three gigs were all they wanted to do.
