‘Twin Peaks’ revival coming in early 2017, per Showtime boss

For anyone out there hungry for some further information in regards to when “Twin Peaks” is going to be coming to Showtime, we at least have a slightly-more-accurate timeframe now than we did before: Early 2017. This is what network programming head David Nevins confirmed during his panel at the TCA Winter Press Tour on Tuesday.

There’s no doubt that the continuation of the cult favorite from Mark Frost and David Lynch is highly anticipated by many, and for good reason. It’s a chance for a story to live on, and for something that was perhaps underrated in its time to show its true strength. The interesting thing about its production, though, is that things are so enigmatic at the moment, not even Nevins has had a chance to see a full episode just yet. After saying that Lynch is about halfway through filming the new episodes, he added the following (per IGN):

“I’ve seen 25 minutes of cut scenes, I was shown selections and bits. I have not seen an entire assembled episode. There are no assembled episodes yet. This was just to get a feel for various characters … It was incredibly exciting. I don’t want to sit here and over-hype, but it was incredibly exciting. It definitely felt like you were in the hands of a master.”

Will this be the most-watched series premiere in the history of Showtime? In the absence of so many other questions that we could ask at the moment with greater information on the story, this is the one that rises to the top of the list.
