‘Person of Interest’ season 5 more than likely the last, says J.J. Abrams

POIJ.J. Abrams is a man who has certainly been all over the place over the past few months thanks to promoting “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” With that being said, he took on a very different role at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour this weekend: That of promoter for some of his TV properties.

One of the show’s that he executive-produces is “Person of Interest” on CBS, and unfortunately he did not have the best news in talking about its future. Per TVLine, he strongly suggested that unless something changes and the show delivers huge ratings, we’re looking more than likely at the end of the road:

“My guess is [Season 5] is the final season … The only heartbreak there is how much good story there was to come if it were to have continued.”

The reality that Abrams and everyone else have been forced to face at this point is strictly that CBS is not really showing a whole lot of faith in the series anymore. The ratings were not stellar for season 4, and whether it because of that or it coming from an outside studio (one that not as favorable to them money-wise) the network has not been altogether keen to try to put it on the schedule. Recently, we started to speculate that maybe it is getting a summer run, since it does not appear to be listed anywhere as coming on this spring. We almost prefer it starts in June at this point to avoid some of the competition elsewhere.
