New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly: Start time; Gwen Stefani to perform

While Carson Daly’s show on NBC may not be the most-watched program on New Year’s Eve, the “Last Call” and “The Voice” host does have a tendency to draw some viewers year after year to his festivities in Times Square.

Granted, things are going to be a little bit different for him this time around. As reported earlier in the week, the network is shifting things so that starting at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time, there will be a special edition of “Hollywood Game Night” themed around the new year hosted by Andy Cohen. You can head over here to see the full roster of people taking part in that.

Meanwhile, “New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly” is going to be airing in a condensed format starting at around 11:30 p.m., where you will get the customary ball drop and also a performance from Gwen Stefani. It’s pretty customary at this point for someone from “The Voice” family to appear on this special as a featured performer. Given Gwen’s relationship status and a certain New Year’s Eve tradition that happens around the stroke of midnight, we do certainly expect that there are going to be some people waiting to see if Blake Shelton ends up making an appearance. From looking at his site, there isn’t any show listed on his schedule until February.

We’ll be back later with coverage of anything and everything that happens on New Year’s Eve. Here’s to an awesome new year of great TV! We’ll be here every step of the way.
