‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ debate: Should anyone survive the looming massacre?

AHSThere are still two episodes to go on “American Horror Story: Hotel,” and it definitely doesn’t appear at the moment as though anyone is in a great place. Iris and Liz Taylor are going after the Countess, Ramona is still in her prison, and while John Lowe may be living and breathing now, do you really think being the Ten Commandments Killer goes without consequences? Given that Mr. March and Sally are already dead, it’s hard to imagine either one coming out of this okay.

So will anyone survive the events of this season? Should anyone? If we had to name someone the most-likely person to make it through this, we’d say that it is the Countess. Lady Gaga has been at the center of everything this season, and we’re not sure the writers / producers are that interesting in damning her for some of what she has done. “American Horror Story” has been somewhat moralistic in its endings to date (at least for the past three seasons), and that may give them an incentive to change things up where a killer survives through the end of the season.

The problem with looking at many of the other characters is that they’ve already got the blood virus, which means that there is no real expiration date on their lives. Therefore, it’s hard to speculate on Donovan, Iris, or Alex’s fate. We do think there is something fascinating in Iris being the last one standing, if for no other reason than that she’s been the one forced into being immortal at such a late state in her life.

Our personal preference at this point may just be to turn this all into a Shakespearean tragedy where everyone dies. The biggest issue with this season beyond inconsistent storytelling is that there hasn’t been any one character to root for. Therefore, we’re not that invested in anyone making it, and a part of us would just like to see the Hotel Cortez torn down so everyone can start anew.
