‘House of Cards’ season 4 takes advantage of GOP Debate with smart new promo

We have to give some credit where credit is due when it comes to Netflix: They’re killing it in their promotion right now for the fourth season of “House of Cards,” premiering next year on Netflix.

During the GOP Debate tonight on CNN, the streaming service aired a new ad featuring Kevin Spacey’s Frank Underwood talking about his own Presidential campaign. This is one of the most timely promos out there that could possibly be released, and it’s certainly compelling despite it lasting for just a few short seconds. This debate is likely to draw some enormous ratings for the network, and there’s a reason why there are so many messages about the show on social media. (Here’s a hint: Everyone has strong reactions to pretty much everything that the candidates are saying.)

So will this actually help the show get more attention than it would otherwise? The answer to that is a little debatable, if for no other reason than that it was going to get a lot of attention otherwise. This show just has that sort of popularity and track record behind it already. This show along with “Arrested Development” are to us the main reasons why the service has become a household staple, and it could continue for however long that Spacey, the writers, and the producers want to keep it in the game.

If there is one bit of advice we can give you right now, it is this: Stay tuned. We’ll have more information about what to expect along the way.

What do you think not only of the promo, but of Netflix’s decision to release it tonight? Let us know in the comments.
