SAG Awards 2016: ‘Mr. Robot’s’ Rami Malek rare surprise in otherwise dull nominations
Welcome to the Screen Actors Guild Awards, where …. well, why should we bother to finish when we get the sense sometimes that they couldn’t be bothered, either? Are the film honors so much more than TV all of a sudden? For the umpteenth straight year we get the feeling that someone handed some people a paint-by-numbers kit and just filled it in with the same brushes that they have before. The only change is that this time we get Rami Malek, a wonderful performer and the only surprise of the entire list.
You can probably guess many of these nominees without even looking, but we’ll go ahead and present them for you just in case.

We’re going to have an article coming about specific snubs in the near future, but for now let’s say this in an effort to vocalize some of our frustration with these awards:
1. Maggie Smith is an international treasure, but has no business being nominated over Tatiana Maslany, Taraji P. Henson, or Caitriona Balfe.
2. Have all SAG voters even seen “Luther” and “Transparent” yet?
3. Apparently, this show still thinks that “Orange is the New Black” is funny enough to be a comedy.
