‘Empire’ season 2 stars Taraji P. Henson, Terence Howard hosting holiday special on Fox
Who better to ring in Christmas with than Cookie and Lucious Lyon? Okay, don’t answer that…
Luckily, Taraji P. Henson and Terence Howard are probably not bringing their characters to the just-announced Fox holiday special entitled “Terence and Taraji’s White Hot Holidays,” which is going to air on Wednesday, December 9 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, one week after “Empire” season 2 shuts things down for the year. Mary J. Blige, John Legend and Jamie Foxx are among the lineup of performers set to appear right now.
We imagine that this will probably be a lot of fun for the actors to do, but we really cannot sit here with confidence and say that this show would’ve been ordered had “Empire” not been the enormous hit that it was. This is a completely reactionary move, but at the end of the day we’re still fine with it since it accomplishes precisely what many want it to: Getting more of Taraji and Terence on the screen. They have enormous personalities and great chemistry with each other, so this is probably not going to be your straight-laced Christmas Special.
As for whether or not it tops the upcoming “A Very Murray Christmas” on Netflix, let’s just say that it may have its work cut out for it in that department.
For those of you who are hungry for more “Empire” scoop, rest assured that we’re not forgetting about that! We’ll be around to present even more updates about the show over the course of the next two days leading into Wednesday’s episode.
