‘Arrow’ season 4, episode 7 preview: Director previews Diggle-centric ‘Brotherhood’
Over the course of “Arrow” season 4 so far, we’ve seen the John Diggle character doing just about everything that he can to get something resembling answers on his brother’s past. Most recently, he learned some devastating news that suggests that his late brother Andy was actually involved in some rather seedy business dealings before Damien Darhk and HIVE hired Deadshot to put him down.
Is that really true? This will be one of the themes for Wednesday night’s “Brotherhood,” an episode that will put David Ramsey’s character front and center as it looks both at his history with Andy, and also his current relationship with Oliver Queen. Stunt guru James Bamford directed this episode, and in setting up the story to TVLine, he made it clear that there is a part of Diggle that makes him want to hold out hope that Andy was not a monster at all:
“Of course he doesn’t [want to believe], but he really wants to put this to bed. He wants to have some resolution for all the feelings he’s had about his brother throughout the years — as anybody would. He doesn’t want to walk around carrying this baggage for the rest of his life. He just wants to live his life. This episode has a lot to do with family — not only Diggle’s but the family unit that is Team Arrow itself, and the interactions within. It’s titled “Brotherhood” for a good reason, as that applies to not only Diggle but also his relationships, with Oliver in particular. You’ll see the strength of those relationships, and the weaknesses as well.”
We figure one way or another, Diggle will have some answers in this episode. After all, there’s not going to be much room for it in the stories to come given that we have the crossover episode after this, and then, we’re heading right into the midseason finale.
