‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Donald Trump tries to go for laughs with Cecily Strong, Sasheer Zamata

SNL -In case you live under a rock somewhere, you may not have heard the news: Donald Trump is hosting the new episode of “Saturday Night Live” airing on NBC this weekend. The billionaire mogul is clearly one of the most polarizing people who has hosted in some time, thanks to his Presidential run and also some of the comments that he’s made.

The first promos for the episode below, though, are about as far from controversial as you can possibly be. Trump does not utter anything that we’d consider even remotely offensive, and the video more chooses to make fun of his voice, and his tendency to proclaim that he is always the best at everything that he does. We do think that Trump is well aware of his caricature status at times, and chooses to play that up when it suits him.

Cecily Strong (with an assist from Sasheer Zamata) do the majority of the heavy lifting here, and offer up a few nice little zingers to go along with some of Trump’s lines. Still, we really have no idea how this show is going to go. Trump has done this before, so we know that he does have some sort of history with the cast and crew. Yet, most of the people onscreen weren’t around the last time he hosted, and his political beliefs were not center stage.

We’re going to cover this episode extensively, so be on the lookout for that. Heck, we’re even going to be podcasting this episode!
