‘Gotham’ season 2 spoilers: Is Barbara after Jim Gordon?

Barbara -Sooner or later, you knew that “Gotham” was going to be diving back into the sort of “Fatal Attraction” story that is going on with Barbara Kean and Jim Gordon, and we are seemingly going to see this play out during “Tonight’s the Night,” the upcoming November 9 story that will feature Theo Galavan’s notorious sort-of-partner-in-crime getting her talons back into Jim in some shape or form. Of course, we also imagine that Lee Thompkins is going to have something to say about this, as well.

The synopsis below gives you a little bit of indication as to where this story is going to be going in this hour, including just how Captain Barnes and Harvey Bullock could be coming to Jim’s rescue:

“Galavan sends Barbara after Jim Gordon, while he tries to make a business deal with Bruce Wayne. Barnes and Bullock are hot on Barbara’s trail, and Nygma has a run-in with a familiar face.”

One of the questions that we ultimately have with this particular episode, and really the second season as a whole, is whether or not we’re about see Barbara burn out. It is hard to make someone chaotic and evil at the same time without it feeling eventually like you’re making them do the same thing time and time again. That’s why we feel like the show did the right thing by getting rid of Jerome when they did, while the character is still beloved.

As for why someone like the Penguin works as a long-term villain, the simple answer is that he is a little more calculated. He knows when to go under the radar, and that benefits him even if he has to wait to make his moves.
