TV Quick Hits: ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead’ renewed, ‘Mom’ season 3 scoop, Carrie Underwood’s ‘Rockin’ Eve’ gig
“Ash vs. Evil Dead” renewed by Starz – Well, this did not take much time at all! While the show’s first season is set to premiere on Saturday, the network has ensured that they will have another batch of episodes coming up to satisfy fans. The network has a long history of renewing programs before they premiere, so there is really not anything altogether surprising about the decision that they have made here.
In a statement confirming the glorious news, the network’s managing director Carmi Zlotnik had the following to say:
“One season isn’t enough to satisfy the fans’ two decade-long appetite for more Ash … The early fan and press support, along with the international broadcaster demand for more story have made it clear that the adventures of Ash Williams can’t end with season one.”
Both Bruce Campbell and Lucy Lawless are set to return for the second season. As for some other news…
Judy Greer joins “Mom” – Following the news of “Married” getting canceled by FX, TVLine reports that Greer will be appearing on the CBS comedy as Michelle, a “sloppy” drunk who Christy and Bonnie meet in a bar and try to help get sober. This news follows up recent reports that Joe Manganiello (“True Blood”) is also set to appear this coming season.
Carrie Underwood’s “Rockin’ Eve” gig – It has been confirmed in a statement that the country superstar will headline this year’s “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” over at ABC, which basically means that she will be the last artist to perform before the ball drops. Here is what she had to say:
“There’s nowhere else I’d rather be than New York’s Times Square, one of the most magical places in the world, to ring in the New Year. It’s going to be a memorable night, and I can’t wait to celebrate with the world!”
