‘Empire’ season 2, episode 6 preview: Can Hakeem be saved?

“Empire” fans, we hope you’re prepared for a long wait. There’s at least one more week before the show returns to Fox, and that wait could become even longer depending on the matchup between the New York Mets and Kansas City Royals in the World Series.

The promo below does not mention a specific return date, and as it turns out, there is also a particular reason for that: Fox does not want to tip their cap one way or another as to when the show is coming back. If there is a Game 7 of the World Series, for example, it could be as late as November 11 before the series returns. That’s probably why they decided to deliver on such an epic cliffhanger like the capture of Hakeem.

Is he going to be okay? We’d like to think so, but the reality is that we don’t know just how bold this show wants to be just yet. If it actually chose to get rid of Hakeem, would they upset many fans that are out there? Probably, but the reality is that it would show that they are not afraid to make big moves and kill people off. In the grand scheme of things for this show, that could be considered good since you want to do what you can in order to ensure that people stay on their toes.

Meanwhile, if Hakeem lives, the show may eventually reset to what it was, which is still good. At least the capture of him is not a direct parallel to a certain issue on “The Walking Dead” right now, where it will be completely unbelievable if a character escapes their current fate.
