‘The X Factor’ UK: Could Monica Michael, Josh Daniel return as wild card?

X Factor -

It’s that time of year again … otherwise known as the time when wild-card acts may be chosen for “The X Factor.” There’s never really been a hard-and-fast rule on this. Sometimes, there are wild cards for every category, while on other occasions there are ones who just get chosen by the voting public or the judges / producers.

This time around, the buzz started when Simon Cowell said on “Lorraine” that the show may consider bringing the twist back. We’re not sure that you need four more acts, but there are two that should be under heavy consideration in Monica Michael and Josh Daniel. Michael received a ton of airtime all season and proved herself to have a killer voice; meanwhile, Josh’s first audition has over 25 million views, making it one of the most viral singing-show auditions we’ve seen in some time. That is the sort of success that is ultimately rather hard to ignore.

The easy case to bring them back is that you are putting the power firmly into the hands of the voting public, who are just now getting a chance to get to know some of these singers and could decide that they would rather have these two around. Mason Noise, for example, was met with boos the moment Nick Grimshaw called his name.

We may not have a definite answer one way or another when it comes to wild-card acts until this weekend, but if you stay tuned, we’ll give you some more updates as we start to hear a little bit more about it from sources overseas.

For now, head over here to read what Nick and Cheryl Fernandez-Virsini had to say regarding Mason. Meanwhile, sign up here to get some other great TV news worth a song or two, courtesy of our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ITV.)
