‘The Bastard Executioner’ episode 7 preview: Life is complicated for Wilkin, Lady Love
We are entering the home stretch of “The Bastard Executioner” season 1, and with that, we are starting to see more and more of how Wilkin Brattle could come apart at the seams thanks to this job. Milus Corbett has used and abused him already, he’s seen so much of what he loves pulled from him, and going into “Behold the Lamb,” the question you must wonder is this: How long can he keep this ruse up? Even if he gets his revenge, will he be satisfied?
The trouble with his mission is that in going undercover as an executioner, he is potentially filling his head with further guilt over what he is chosen to do. Tonight, both he and Lady Love are going to have to come to grips with the notion that they may put an innocent man to death. They may not want to do so, but certain things play out for the sake of the “greater good” or whatever else you want to call it.
For the final episodes, the largest thing we want to see is simply a showdown between Milus and Wilkin where all of their cards are on the table, and Lee Jones’ character finally has a way to hang something over the man in power. Much of his struggle to date can be tied to the fact that Milus knows more about who he really is than most, and he is almost thrust into the position of lackey here and there.
We’ll be back later tonight with a review of this “Bastard Executioner” episode. Stay tuned…
