TV quick hits: Stephen Colbert on Oregon shooting; ‘Beyond the Tank’ pushed back for ‘Quantico’ repeat

We’re starting this particular edition of TV quick hits with something a little more serious, and that is Stephen Colbert having an open, candid discussion of the shooting that took place in Oregon on Friday night’s edition of “The Late Show.” This is a moment of clear vulnerability for Stephen, and it comes with him openly admitting that there is no clear-cut answer for him when it comes to how to resolve the issue of many firearm-related deaths in America.

In the video below, you can see Colbert focusing for a couple of minutes on the shooting, and then using that to frame a larger discussion on pretending versus honesty that does contain some humor. He does realize that even in a sense, he is moving past pretending given that he grew so comfortable to playing a character on TV for many years versus being himself. He’s still struggling with that, just as though he is figuring out the best way to there for those in need of a little laughter during a tough time.

We do know that sometimes, it can be hard as a comic to go up on stage and crack jokes after a tragedy; however, for others, they look at this as a form of healing.

“Beyond the Tank” pushed back – It is not easy to make a transition out of that subject either, but we do want to give you a new update via Deadline that the season premiere of the “Shark Tank” spin-off has been delayed until October 13. It was actually scheduled at first for September 29, but delayed then for a “Quantico” repeat. The same thing is happening once again next week as ABC attempts to shore up a large audience for their new drama series.
