‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 spoilers: Melissa McBride sets up situation in Alexandria
The season 6 premiere of “The Walking Dead” is coming to AMC in a matter of a little under two weeks on October 11, and one of the big questions looming is how we are going to see our cast of characters handling the rising threats at Alexandria? They are certainly well-aware of the dangers out there, and also have experience handling them, but in this landscape there are always dangers that they haven’t faced. Is it possible for our survivors to get too comfortable in this world and think they know it all?
What these people don’t have as much experience with is dealing with people who have not experienced the terrors of this new world. For the most part, the community of Alexandria has been relatively neutered in that regard. They have a great architecture for securing their safety at the moment, but this is going to start to break down more and more over the course of the episodes ahead.
As Melissa McBride (Carol) tells Entertainment Weekly in a new interview, one of the challenges for her character, Rick, Glenn, and others is going to be playing the part of a support system for the newbies , but also continuing to be ruthless zombie assassins who are prepared for the worst. They have to take on this struggle on all fronts:
“It’s been difficult because the Alexandrians have been so safe behind their walls, they really don’t get the scope of the threat. Our group is trying to protect itself and provide a safe haven without their world turning upside down. So we’re having to play it safe and Carol is playing two faces. Hopefully get everybody in the community to live together and survive together by implementing the same survival tactics.”
