‘Doctor Who’ season 9: Jenna Coleman has no idea on eventual replacement

Doctor -Earlier this month (and before the season 9 premiere of “Doctor Who” on the BBC), we had a very significant announcement from Jenna Coleman: This is going to be her last go-around as Clara Oswald. At some point during the season she will depart, which leaves The Doctor in an interesting position as he has to look forward and potentially find a new Companion for his travels.

We have personally already speculated that Clara’s last appearance will probably be prior to the Christmas Special, largely because we know Alex Kingston is returning for that as River Song and that would help to fill the vacancy left by her for the time being. With that being said, who knows?

What we do know is that Coleman is not going to be particularly involved in the decision to cast her replacement. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in a new interview, the actress made it clear that she has no involvement at all in the decision. As for whether or not she took anything from the set, she had a little bit of a clearer answer:

“Toward my last couple of weeks, I had my eyes peeled. So, yeah, I’ve taken my key – I still have a key to the TARDIS! I have something else which I’m going to reveal afterwards, perhaps, because I don’t think they know it’s missing yet. [Laughs] And I also took a clockwork squirrel.”

We imagine that the show will not rush into casting a new Companion, and it could be next year before we start to figure out what lies ahead.
