‘NCIS’ season 13 spoilers: Who will be turning up via archival footage?
It has been pretty widely reported at this point that the season 13 premiere of “NCIS” is going to feature Agent Gibbs not only fighting for his life, but seeing some ghosts from his past appear in the process. In addition to seeing Jon Cryer in the present as his surgeon Dr. Taft, Muse Watson is going to have a significant presence in some dream sequences as Mike Franks. Given the importance of Franks in Gibbs’ life, we are not entirely surprised that this is someone we are seeing a lot of.
However, the following bit of information did catch us off guard: We’re also going to be seeing a little bit of Darby Stanchfield as the late Shannon Gibbs, but not necessarily in the way that you would think. She will be appearing primarily via some archival footage, which means mostly that the show wanted to use her, but obviously it is hard since Stanchfield is busy on “Scandal.” TVLine reports that one of the reasons for this is that the show is also planning to bring into these sequences Kelly Gibbs.
In some ways, the “NCIS” premiere Tuesday will be a reunion of sorts, and a way to see a lot of characters who we have not seen in a little while. Unfortunately, we’re not sure how happy these reunions will be given that Taft is trying to save Gibbs’ life, and it seems that most of his visitors are of the already-dead variety.
Ultimately, it has more or less been confirmed that Gibbs will make it through all of this. However, will what happened to him have a far-reaching impact on his life? This is what season 13 is going to have to figure out.
