‘Suits’ season 5 spoilers: What’s up with Donna’s love life?

To us, there is almost no question that Donna and Harvey are two of the most-popular people on “Suits,” especially in terms of the whole will-they-or-won’t-they dynamic that they have going on. The current issue standing in their way, at least the one that is not related to Harvey and what he has been trying to figure out about himself in therapy, is whether or not Donna’s current relationship is going to turn into something.

During the first half of the show’s brilliant fifth season (we recently wrote more than 2,000 words about the show’s current greatness), we did get a brief reference from Donna that she is seeing someone. However, we never met the man, and we have no sense of what the relationship is. As show creator Aaron Korsh tells TVLine, this is something that he and the writers are still trying to figure out for the back half of the season:

“Yes, she was telling the truth [about seeing someone]. But it remains to be seen how important that relationship ends up being. She was not lying. I do not think Donna would do that. But it’s possible that, since then, they’ve broken up. We don’t know. We have to figure that out.”

While it is being toyed around with in one already courtesy of her working for Louis Litt, we do think one of the big catalysts for change for Harvey, at least provided that he is going to actually change, would be him starting to realize that he is about to lose Donna in a significant way. If he cannot have her professionally or romantically (if he does start to realize those feelings), how will he react? All we can say is that he is finally start to near a place where he understands himself, and that may make it easier to have someone else start to understand him further, as well.
