‘The X Factor’ UK preview: The big return of Monica Michael!
Granted, the biggest problem we had with Monica the first time was not her talent, but rather that we just didn’t see that much of her. We feel like this is the first time where she’s really getting the screen time for us to take her seriously as a contender, and this feels right now like someone who could make it to the live shows.
The difference this time is that she will have a change in potential mentor. Last year, she was sent home by Cheryl Fernandez-Virsini, but this time around, Rita Ora is mentoring the girls while Cheryl has the groups. Granted, Monica did not know any of this at the time that she was trying out, but it is still something worth noting.
Ultimately, what will make or break Monica this season is how she handles the pressure when she gets a little bit further in the competition. She already knows what it feels like to go home, so can she put those dreadful memories out of her head and focus on the positive? We’ll get a chance to see soon enough.
