‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: Felicity tackles a challenging new role
Felicity for many years has always shined in the role of tech specialist, but can she really go from that to CEO? It may seem like it is somewhat out of left field, but if we can see Oliver Queen partially run Queen Consolidated while also donning a costume at night and taking out bad guys, we’re really not going to rule it out.
Therefore, expect to see some challenges (and rather big ones) for Emily Bett Rickards’ character throughout “Arrow” season 4, as she does her best to tackle what it means to run a company in the wake of Ray Palmer’s “death.” Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Wendy Mericle does a good job of setting up a little bit of what Felicity’s independent story is going to be for the season:
“She’s no longer just the IT girl or Vice President under Palmer … She’s the full-blown CEO, and it’s an opportunity to really see that character grow up and be challenged in ways we haven’t seen before.”
Personally, we do like the idea of Felicity having something going on that is incredibly impressive, and it is a nice little role-reversal from where Oliver was the super-wealthy company man in season 1 and she was working under him in one of the departments. Now, we have no clue going into season 4 if Oliver even has some sort of a day job … even if there are some rumors out there about him running for office.
Romance-wise, know that Felicity and Oliver are going to be going strong when the show picks back up October 7, and they will even have some sort of domesticated life. Things will become a little busy for them once they continue fighting crime once more, but they will hopefully have a good foundation built.
