‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9 spoilers: First promo teases Leonard / Penny wedding
The wedding between Leonard and Penny is going to happen on the upcoming September 21 premiere of “The Big Bang Theory,” but let’s just say that this is really not happening in in way in which you imagined that it would – and after waiting 9 long seasons for it to happen we are really expecting a big pay off from it.
Instead of it being some sort of huge ceremony where everyone was in attendance (like we saw with Howard and Bernadette), what we had for the couple was a quickie ceremony in Las Vegas, and a situation that looked as though it was going to send everything off the rails entirely thanks to the fact that Leonard revealed a past indiscretion with another woman behind Penny’s back while aboard a research ship in the North Sea beforehand. The promo doesn’t really hint at any drama, though; instead, it simply goes for laughs, flashing back to where these two were during the series premiere, and also where they are now. It’s certainly been quite a change over time and it is one of the reasons why this wedding needs to pay off big for the fans – we have invested a lot in these two over the years and feel like we are part of their journey towards a happily ever after.
As for the rest of the episode, we imagine that if you are a fan of Sheldon and Amy, there will be some time devoted to whether or not they are able to resolve some of their differences and get back together (or even possibly get engaged). We don’t expect a relationship to be rebuilt in a day, but this is something that Sheldon probably does need to start focusing on if he ever wants things to work out between the two of them before the series is at the end.
