‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: Meghan Ory will howl again as Red

While it has been some time since Meghan Ory previously graced “Once Upon a Time,” the good news is that her return is now official!

As first reported by TVLine, Ory is poised to return for several episodes as Red, or as she was previously known in Storybrooke, Ruby. We’ve never really been given an indicator on the show that the character had taken off somewhere, so it will probably be written as though she was never gone but not particularly important to the story at the moment.

It makes sense timing-wise that the show would try to bring her back now, if for no other reason than that Ory’s character is the subject of a new companion book that is being released, and it would have been admittedly strange for the show to be hyping up the character, only to then never see her on the show again.

One of the more interesting aspects of this character to us is that we feel like there were initially more plans to use her in season 2 than what ended up happening, and her situation was somewhat similar to what happened to Michael Socha as Will this past season. Ory did leave to take on a part in the CBS show “Intelligence,” but it was canceled after only one season on the air.

The new season of “Once Upon a Time” is going to premiere on Sunday, September 27. We’re sure that there will be more casting news on the subject of the show where this comes from.
