‘The Good Wife’ season 7 spoilers: What story awaits Cary now?
There are many characters who will be entering “The Good Wife” season 7 in fairly interesting places, and at the moment Cary has to be somewhere near the top of the list. He’s got a great job, and to go along with that he doesn’t have to worry about being arrested or any of the other problems that have recently plagued him.
So while he may be in a slightly more carefree position, does that mean that he is going to be happy? Not necessarily. As executive producer Robert King tells TVLine, part of his problem is going to be trying to adjust to actually being happy. He’s had to fight for almost everything that he’s received in this job, so suddenly being in a position to have things is not going to be all that easy for him:
“Throughout his six years on the show, he has always been the person struggling the most to maintain his career … Now he’s in the most secure position ever. He’s a partner at Chicago’s third-largest firm. And he’s only 34. He’s the youngest person in the room almost by a decade or two, and that creates a very big strain for him because A) he’s not used to not struggling and B) he finds himself drawn to the [younger] associates. He’s caught between the people over him and beneath him. That creates a great, interesting comic strain for Matt Czuchry.”
We are at this point in the series’ run now where we do need to start setting up the endgame for many of the characters, and when you look at someone like Cary, there are many different ways for him to go. Could he end up finding love, or even more career success? We certainly hope so, since this is definitely one of those guys who really deserve something more.
