‘UnREAL’ season 2 bolsters its roster behind the scenes
The second season of “UnREAL” is going to be coming up on Lifetime at some point next year, and anticipation is already high for it. This is what happens when you make a name for yourself as one of the breakout hits of the summer. People want to see one way or another what you have in store next, and the intrigue is only amplified by how season 1 ended. “Everlasting” is over, Rachel was called out by Jeremy publicly, and Adam Cromwell was left at the altar.
What we are here to tell you about today is the show shoring up a larger roster of talent behind the scenes to ensure that the show excels during season 2. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Carol Barbee of “Judging Amy” has signed on as an executive producer, and will join Marti Noxon, co-creator (and recently promoted) Sarah Gertrude Shapiro, Stacy Rukeyser, Robert M. Sertner, and Sally DeSipio in this role. That is a lot of EPs for a series, but if they all have specific roles, it can work out rather well.
We feel like the influx of creative talent is especially important here in figuring out what you want to do next. We’ve already had a whole season taking down “The Bachelor” franchise and all of its shenanigans, so how do you surprise us next? Do you try to shake things up and take on a different sort of reality show, or give us more of the same?
Ultimately, we imagine that the focus will be more on the creative team than the nature of the show-within-a-show, but it remains a target of great fascination.
