‘Ink Master’ season 6, episode 10 review: Dodge Challenger brings the sexy to Ink Master
We have a lot of heavy hitters left in the “Ink Master” competition this season and there are more alliances and more strategic moves being made this season then any other season of the show. As a “Big Brother” fan we can really appreciate this type of game play on a reality show – it’s incredibly entertaining to watch! At the same time though it seems that Chris Blinston is the only person that is really benefiting from the alliances and because it seems that he’s had this game in the bag for a few weeks now, it only makes it painful to watch the other people in the alliance helping him win the title. So what happens when Chris turns on one of his alliance members?
Flash challenge: Anyone who knows us here at CarterMatt knows how deep our love for the Dodge Challenger runs, so when we saw that the flash challenge tonight involved this beautiful beast of a car, we knew we were in for a great night of TV. The artists are being tested on artistry and to help them show their skills they get to paint these incredibly sexy cars in teams 3 for a full coverage design. The teams are: Team 1 Craig, Erik and Chris, team 2 Duffy, Kruseman and Katie and team 3 is Dave, Matt and Tyler. We get that flames are a standard go to with custom paint jobs for American muscle cars, but we were kind of hoping to see these teams stray away from what’s expected and go with something completely different, but there was a lot of flames happening. Dave, Matt and Tyler added a bomber aspect to their flames and it really brought the car to life making it our favorite of the group. So who won? Chris, Erik and Craig won with a very cool honeycomb design.
Oh and the winning car will be given to an Ink Master super fan!!! Check out the official Spike TV site for more information.
Elimination tattoo: With Chris, Craig and Erik winning the skull pick there were going to be some butting of heads since Craig and Chris are in different alliances. Craig wants to go after Dave, and Chris wants to get Katie out, so they both agree to look the other way on these two skull picks. How will Dave react to the news that Chris turned on his alliance? Chris turned it around saying that Craig threw Dave under the bus so Chris chose Craig to go up against to stand up for Dave. Dave and Tyler didn’t buy into it.
The elimination tattoo has brought us Rose Hardy as a guest judge on artistry and she’s pushing the artists to tattoo outside of the box to give us more original imagery. The artists will be tattooing an anatomical heart morphing into another image and they will be tattooing in head to head challenges in groups of threes (in the groups of three, two will lose and one will win.) The groups are Craig, Duffy and Chris – Kruseman, Matt and Dave – Erik, Tyler and Katie. We loved that Craig picked to go up against Chris, this was the first opportunity to go up against Chris and Craig made the right choice (last time Chris tattooed an anatomical heart he reversed that colors of the Aorta and Pulmonary artery, which is a pretty big mistake.)
Judging: Out of Craig, Chris and Duffy, we saw Chris win and as much as he deserved this win, we were hoping to see Craig win so we could feel like someone else has a chance at this title, but it’s still the Chris Blinston show. With Kruseman, Matt and Dave the winner was Matt… by a mile! Last but not least when it comes to Erik, Tyler and Katie, we saw Katie rise to the top with a really cool heart/clock tattoo. Although Craig didn’t win his battle against Chris, he was able to sink Dave who received the worst critique he’s had so far and it looks like he’s in trouble.
With Duffy (human canvas voted), Dave, and Erik in the bottom this week we really didn’t know who was going home. Dave has been producing some amazing tattoos all season and until this week has never had reason to be in the bottom, so we were pretty nervous for him. Who went home? We lost Dave and it’s really sad to see him and his totally rad mustache go home. Episode grade: A-

The pairings for the flash challenge weren’t random, Chris picked them as he had the best tattoo on the last elimination challenge. And I actually thought that Dave has been totally average all season.
