‘American Crime’ season 2 signs up upcoming ‘Spectre’ star Stephanie Sigman

While it has been a little while since we have had some casting news in regards to “American Crime” season 2, we like to think that this announcement in particular makes the wait at least in part worth it.

Today it was announced that Stephanie Sigman, who is going to get rather close to James Bond at times during the upcoming “Spectre” feature film, will be taking on a very different part on the ABC anthology. He part is that of Monica Ava, an administrator in the Indianapolis area who gets mixed up in what is the central conflict of the season: A series of events that test such things as cultural and sexuality identity for a variety of young people at school.

One of the cool things about “American Crime” is that the majority of their casting news happens to be announced via statement. Here, take a look at what executive producer John Ridley had to say about this casting:

“One can’t watch Miss Bala without coming away with a total appreciation of Stephanie’s ability to literally hold the frame … She is so finely accomplished, and we’re amazingly fortunate that she’s decided to come directly from a project as substantial as the new Bond film to work with us on something as observant as American Crime. We continue to build the cast, and that really is testament to the work and commitment of all the actors and artisans with whom we’ve had the opportunity to work on this program.”

The new season of “American Crime” will likely premiere in early 2016.
