NBC notes: Jimmy Fallon’s new contract, ‘Xena’ remake, and ‘American Ninja Warrior’ renewed
There were a few assorted stories announced today at NBC’s TCA Summer Press Tour panel that are not necessarily substantial enough for a full feature here at CarterMatt, but they are still definitely worth noting and discussing in this article.
Jimmy Fallin’s new contract – The host of “The Tonight Show” has signed an extension that is going to keep him around until 2021. That means a whole lot more thank-you notes and random games with celebrities. Jimmy is very good at what he does. We’re not quite sure that he is everyone’s cup of tea, since some out there prefer people with a different interviewing style, but ratings don’t lie. He’s killing it right now in comparison to other late-night shows.
“Xena: Warrior Princess” remake – NBC is in fact interested in making this happen. For now, the biggest roadblock is just finding the correct writer who can turn this into a reality. They have not figured that part out just yet. They would be thrilled to have Lucy Lawless be a part of the show, but it feels like they’re not far enough in the process yet to approach her with anything serious.
“American Ninja Warrior” renewed – This is hardly a shocker. This competition has become a sporting event almost, with serious competitors and people who have become relative celebrities thanks to this. It is one of summer’s top-rated shows in the demo, so let’s just give a salute to all of those involved any move forward.
We’re going to have some other news related to NBC’s TCA panel throughout the day, so be on the lookout for some more of those soon. If you do want to get some further TV news sent right over to you, be sure to sign up right now for our official CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: NBC.)
