‘Person of Interest’ season 5 spoilers: When could Sarah Shahi return?

POIEarlier this week, the glorious news was official that after some speculation and then hope from the fans, Sarah Shahi would be returning to “Person of Interest” on CBS! Now, we move on to the next question: Just when is exactly will that return be?

We first heard the news that Shahi was going to be in eight or nine of the fifth season’s 13 episodes, but we wondered if that just meant that she would show up for a few, only to disappear for an episode before coming back. As it turns out, that is not exactly the case. Speaking to GiveMeMyRemote, show executive producer Greg Plageman made it clear that she could be back by episode 5, meaning this is more than likely the case of Shaw being around pretty permanently when she does return to the show.

As for what Shahi herself wants to see, she makes it very clear just she is right there with fans who want something more between Root and Shaw before season 5 comes to a close:

“I know what the fans want; I think it’s important to give the fans what they want, because I feel like they’ve been down that Root and Shaw journey for so long … They got a kiss last year, which is good. We’ll see what this year brings. I love working with Amy. She and I feel very mutually about each other, so I hope we get to flirt with that dynamic.”

There is still no firm premiere date for the new “Person of Interest” season, but we would say to expect to see it come on the air at some point early next year. The specifics could vary depending on how CBS’ fall series air.
