‘Jane the Virgin’ season 2 spoilers: Britney Spears to guest star!

“Jane the Virgin” was a favorite with critics throughout its first season, but there was one issue that it repeatedly suffered from: Not getting enough attention from the average viewer. Well, it is starting to feel like the show may have found a way to reel some more in.

Today, it was confirmed that none other than pop superstar Britney Spears will be guest-starring on an upcoming season 2 episode, and executive producer Jennie Urman had the following to say in a statement (per TVLine):

“We are so thrilled that Rogelio’s ‘nemesis’ — Britney Spears — has agreed to appear on Jane The Virgin in episode 205 … Personally, after hearing about their long standing feud (from Rogelio’s point of view), we are eager to hear Ms. Spears’ side of the story, which we assume is quite different. #TeamBritney”

Spears has brought a significant ratings bump to many of the shows that she has appeared on. Her guest-starring stint on “How I Met Your Mother” was considered as one of the moments that helped to bring that show into the mainstream. Meanwhile, she also appeared on one of the highest-rated episodes of “Glee” in their first tribute to her music. Spears may not be as famous necessarily as she was five or ten years ago, but she is one of the biggest pop stars of our time and it’s a huge get for “Jane the Virgin.”

The new season of the show will officially begin on Monday, October 12, and throughout this season you’re going to see everything from Jane planning her romantic future to plenty of Rogelio drama that has nothing to do with Spears. Find out more in the way of scoop here.
