‘Empire’ season 2: Lee Daniels was joking about Emmy comments
Just in case there was anyone out there who needed some more confirmation on just what “Empire” executive producer Lee Daniels was doing when he used expletives in the direction of the Emmys in a post on Instagram earlier.
After there were some posts today claiming that he comments were some sort of direct attack against the Television Academy, Lee took a few minutes on social media to clear it all up, saying that it was just a joke and that he “loved” the Emmys, as well as the fact that his show did receive some nominations. It not getting a Drama Series nod should be considered somewhat of a surprise, given its commercial appeal. However, remember that we had some other winners this year including “House of Cards,” “Orange Is the New Black,” “Mad Men” in its final season, and “House of Cards.” There are only so many shows that can get that love.
Still, we feel like “Empire” star Taraji P. Henson is one of many favorites to win when the show airs on September 20, so the series has to feel at least reasonably good about that. This date just so happens to be three days before the second season premieres on Fox.
Just as you would expect, we will have some other news on “Empire” as we get closer to the premiere date. Stay tuned!
