Lifetime execs on ‘A Deadly Adoption,’ Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig’s participation
So is there anything that the people behind this bizarre product have to say? Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, A+E Networks senior VP of original movies Tanya Lopez explained some of the process that went into the movie, and at the same time seemed to be thinking of the project a little more literally than just a movie designed to make you laugh. Ultimately, though, she seems to be just as surprised as anyone that a major movie star at this point like Ferrell would want to take part in a project like this:
“I don’t know if we’ll ever know whether it was a bet from a group of friends or he really wanted to do it…. We weren’t clear if it was going to be authentic, if it really was going to be this murder story…. It’s not a comedy. And it’s well-done.”
Regardless of whatever it was, it does still feel like this is something that the network will be happy with. It blew up Twitter last night, and even if the ratings weren’t huge, it may still have some staying power.
