‘Orphan Black’ season 4 spoilers: What’s next for Cosima after Delphine surprise?
We understand that there are going to be many people out there upset after Saturday night’s “Orphan Black” finale on BBC America / Space in Canada, and there is one primary reason for that: What happened to the Delphine character. This is someone who is very much loved by many fans, especially when it comes to the bond that she has with Cosima.
Yet, she ended season 3 (seemingly) dead after getting shot in a parking garage. The only solace we can really offer you for now is that we didn’t exactly see her dead body, and executive producer John Fawcett refused to say one way or another in talking about the big moment of the episode after the fact to Entertainment Weekly:
“I know this will be upsetting to many fans but the story in our minds has always been a tragic love story. Listen, I didn’t want to say one way or the other. For us, I believe this is a horrible thing that had to happen. And I know that it’s hard and I know that it’s emotional and I know there are going to be a lot of people out there going “WHY?!?” But trust me, this was a necessary move to make. And its necessary in Cosima’s story and it’s necessary going forward in subsequent seasons—in season 4 and season 5.”
We imagine that there’s at least something nice to say in here in that it appears that the show is going to move forward into a season 5 … at least in that there are ideas for it. BBC America will still have to give it a green light.
For now, though, Delphine is clearly the big cliffhanger, and hopefully some of the first season 4 episodes will start to address who exactly fired the bullet, and what this means for the rest of the characters.
