‘Community’ season 7: Gillian Jacobs on possible new episodes, movie
Why wouldn’t a season 7 of “Community” happen? While we know that there is a certain amount of interest on Yahoo’s part in doing more episodes, we’re starting now to get even more of a sense of what the reality of the situation is. The problem from here on out is probably going to be more getting the actors together more so than having Yahoo interested. Many of them are moving forward. Ken Jeong has “Dr. Ken,” Gillian Jacobs is heading over to Netflix, Paget Brewster has “Grandfathered,” and Danny Pudi had a pilot in consideration at NBC.
In listening to what Jacobs herself had to say to TVLine, part of what the cast may be feeling now is just a desire to move on and try something a little different:
“In previous years, I’ve always been in denial, like, ‘No, we’re coming back!’ [But] this year, our contracts are up. The future is very uncertain. And, for once, it’s not because of network disdain or lack of interest. We’ve just done it for six years and there’s a very different feeling.”
Jacobs says that it “would be easier” for the movie project to happen more so than making another season of the show. We do think that the movie will happen eventually, even if it is disguised as a three-four episode “final season” that is all one continuous story arc. The cast seems to all be interested in doing at least something more, and they just have to wait to see now what happens with Yahoo and creator Dan Harmon.
