‘Prison Break’ revival: What still needs to be done
Yesterday, we heard the first bit of news that Fox is looking at the possibility of reviving “Prison Break” for some sort of limited run. Not only that, but stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell are very interested in coming aboard. Given that the two guys are together again working on DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” for The CW, they also just so happen to be available at around the same time.
So what’s most important now is making sure you get the chief creative voice on board, and it looks like that may be happening. Per a report from Deadline, original show creator Paul Scheuring is interested in the idea of coming back, and he also has an idea for some sort of new story to go along with it. Note here that nothing is official, but this is definitely something that all parties involved seem to be interested in.
Now, we imagine it being fair if you had the following question: Why in the world is the network so interested in bringing the show back now? Are they this devoid of creative ideas? The answer to that is simple: Fox wants guaranteed money, or at least as close as you’re going to get with it. In between “The X-Files” and this show, these are two franchises that would make a heck of a lot of money. Network programming heads Dana Walden and Gary Newman know this.
What we wonder now is this: Is it possible that we could see even more series revivals in the future? We want to start trumpeting the idea of more “Firefly,” but that would be a scheduling nightmare right now given that Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, and Gina Torres are all regulars on other shows.
