‘Homeland’ season 5 spoilers: Meet the new cast members!
This week, “Homeland” season 5 is beginning production in Germany, and the series is already getting a little bit of acclaim for that. After all, this is the first time that an American TV series has filmed an entire season in the country! Hopefully the change of venue will continue allow for a beautiful and interesting story to be told, with the landscape playing a huge role in that.
What we have for you today is really just the latest news in regards to the cast. Miranda Otto (“Lord of the Rings”) is one of the most prominent new faces coming in as a series regular, and will be taking on the role of the Berlin Chief of Station Allison Carr. She is working under Saul, who is back in good graces at the CIA. Meanwhile, Sebastian Koch will be playing Carrie’s new boss named Otto Düring. (Remember that based on what we have heard for the time being here, Carrie is no longer a part of the CIA.) Alexander Fehling of “Inglorious Basterds”) is Carrie’s new boyfriend Jonas, who also happens to be legal counsel for Otto’s foundation. Finally, Sarah Sokolovich is going to play the part of an American journalist named Laura Sutton, who happens to work for this same foundation. (This news is per Deadline.)
It is hard to gleam too much from any of these castings, at least other than that the show plans to really fully utilize the German setting in a way that even season 3 could not do, given that they were substituting South Africa for the Middle East / Asia.
While there is no firm premiere date just yet for the new “Homeland” season, it is far to say that you should expect it at around the beginning of October.
