‘Jane the Virgin’s’ Emmy campaign uses Gina Rodriguez’s own words
We are right around the time now when studios and networks really start to push out their promotional Emmy campaigns, and when it comes to “Jane the Virgin,” we are seeing one of the more innovative campaigns that we have seen.
Specifically, the poster below (first shared over on Deadline) chooses to highlight extensively some of the quotes used by star Gina Rodriguez during the TCA Summer Press Tour last year, right when her show was starting to find its footing. This was at the time one of the more inspiring speeches that we’ve ever seen someone give to the press at this event, and we see it in many ways as one of the beginnings of the great relationship between this show and many TV critics. It has been praised extensively for being so much more than what stereotypes and assumptions are for CW shows: While it is funny (it’s being submitted as a Comedy Series in a new era where it has to be properly approved), there’s also such a spirit and heart behind most of the scenes. You can feel the love that comes through some of the performances.
While we would not say that either the show or Rodriguez are a lock to win an Emmy, both at least have a chance, and we would say that Gina in particular should feel fairly good about her chances at the moment. She already won the Golden Globe for the show, and with “Modern Family” finally on the decline we feel like more and more fresh faces are going to rise to the surface.
As for who some of Gina’s competitors could be, this is something that we will most likely have some further news about after the nominations are announced.
