CBS Upfronts: ‘Criminal Minds’ spin-off, ‘Person of Interest’ season 5, ‘2 Broke Girls’ held back
We know that CBS hates to use the word “midseason” when talking about their schedule, but how else are we supposed to describe some of what they are doing right now?
While at the upfront presentation on Wednesday morning, there were several notable omissions to the fall schedule. “2 Broke Girls” is probably one of the more notable ones given that it has been a fairly popular comedy, though we would contend that “Person of Interest” is right up there on that list. Now note that both of these shows are going to be premiering at some point in the winter most likely rather than the fall. Meanwhile, “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” is not even going to premiere until this point.
Not to put on the conspiracy cap here and dance around, but there is one thing that these shows all have in common: They hail from outside studios rather than CBS TV. Both the Beth Behrs comedy and “Person of Interest” are Warner Bros. shows, while the “Criminal Minds” franchise hails from ABC Studios. Another new series in “Rush Hour” is also from Warner Bros. TV. While nobody really wants to say it, you can still make the argument that in-house shows are always going to get a little more love over at CBS. To be fair, “Supergirl” is also a Warner Bros. show that is airing in November, after the conclusion of Thursday night football.
CBS’ entire fall schedule can be viewed over at the link here, and we do hope that some of the full trailers for their new shows will be coming at some point a little later in the day.
