‘American Crime’ finale spoilers: The case comes to a close
While “American Crime” is in so many ways an extremely dark, gritty show, it is actually wrapping up this season in a very different place than we imagined that it would be going in. For example, we predicted for a long period of time that this show was going to be in danger of getting canceled, and we weren’t sure how much of a spotlight is getting. Luckily, we are fine with being wrong sometimes, and it was one of the more surprising renewals of the day Thursday.
So why bring it back? Quality is a big part of it, as exemplified by the multiple Critics’ Choice TV Awards nominations that the show managed to pull in. It’s probably only going to be eligible as a Limited Series this year, but why not strike while the iron is hot?
We haven’t talked much about the actual story of next week’s finale just yet, and the real reason for that is that ABC is really not giving much away. The promo is so scattered it could almost be one straight out of “Mad Men,” and the synopsis below is not a whole lot of help either:
“The provocative, heart stopping season finale, the criminal case comes to a shocking close for all those involved as we see each life forever altered by this incident. Charged with emotions and unexpected twists, certain journeys will end while others begin.”
We would think that every season on the show would be a different case, but give how much things can change over time, we’ll probably get full-scale answers at the ABC upfronts next week.
