‘Elementary’ season 3 finale spoilers: Is Holmes close to a relapse?

ElementaryIs there a reason to worry about Sherlock Holmes’ physical state moving into Thursday night’s “Elementary” season 3 finale? We would certainly say so at the moment, mostly because some of the early promos seem to very much suggest that his sobriety is at risk in a very big way. He is working to do what he can to make sure that Alfredo is safe, but the problem is that in the process of finding him, he may have to enter a dangerous heroin trade. For Sherlock, relapsing could be a fate almost as bad as death, and it could undo the majority of the work that he and Watson have done since the pilot of the show.

To see some details aside from the promo below on this episode, take a look right now at the synopsis:

“When Holmes’ former recovery sponsor and friend, Alfredo (Ato Essandoh), disappears, Holmes and Watson retrace his steps as Captain Gregson and Detective Bell lend NYPD’s resources to help find him. As the group races to find him, Holmes wonders if his friend is a victim of foul play, or worse, if he has relapsed into addiction.”

We can hope that this episode is one that will end with some happy moments, especially since the show’s fate was probably not assured at the time in which they filmed in. If nothing else, it is interesting to see the show choose to end in a direction that is very personal and focused around the Sherlock character, and not concentrate as much on trying to bring in some other people from the source material.
