ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 finale spoilers: The Stana Katic – Nathan Fillion story

Castle and Beckett -As of this writing, we know that Nathan Fillion is returning to “Castle” for its eighth season. Unfortunately, the future is still not too clear in regards to Stana Katic. Even if the contract is signed by her, we wonder if ABC would keep it a secret until the end of the season. It would be a somewhat cruel thing to do, but admittedly it would probably raise the level of intrigue around the upcoming May 11 finale entitled “Hollander’s Woods.”

The first thing that we can say about this finale is that clearly, the events of “Sleeper” Monday are not going to completely resolve everything that happened in regards to Richard Castle’s disappearance. The synopsis below hints that he is going to be forced to revisit that same traumatic place in the woods that helped him to eventually want to become a mystery author. Meanwhile, this synopsis also gives you a good sense as to why we could have a big Beckett cliffhanger:

“A death in the woods draws Castle back to a terrifying and defining event in his childhood. Investigation leads to obsession, as he attempts to unearth answers that have eluded him for decades, all while Beckett faces a crossroads of her own.”

If the show was to find a way to write out Beckett, the only thing that we could envision them doing is giving her a story that would push her away from the NYPD for a while, such as an overseas assignment. Given that she and Castle were a huge part of the show’s mythology, nothing else would make sense without devastating the fabric of the series. Even with that being said, this story would only work for around a season or so. Hopefully, Katic gets a new deal and there is no reason to worry at all.
