ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4: Scott Foley reacts to shock ending

Jake -Let’s face it: Did you see the ending of tonight’s new episode of “Scandal” coming? We’ve seen many surprise deaths on Shonda Rhimes series before, but we’re not sure many of them can measure up to what happened to Jake Ballard tonight.

In the closing minutes of the episode, Rowan seemingly set forth a plan to have Jake eradicated, and in addition to his apparent death, we were just as shocked to see that it was Russell who did the killing. We’re at least assuming that he is gone, however hard that may be. The promo after the episode strongly suggested that Jake is dead, as does the tweet below from the actor behind the part in Scott Foley, who was really phenomenal in the part for the entire time he was on the show.

We love Foley, but can’t the guy just survive on a Shonda series at some point? First, there was the story with his character and Teddy on “Grey’s Anatomy,” and now this. It’s ultimately quite a lot to take in still, and we’ll probably need some time to sort this out. If Jake is indeed dead, the big thing to take note of is how this is going to impact Olivia and the other Gladiators moving forward. Also, we have to take stock of what this does to the attempt to take down B613. Without him alive, it certainly weakens the case.

We are going to have some more on this show and Jake soon, so be sure to be on the lookout for that!
