‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: Cobie Smulders set to return as Maria Hill

So long as Cobie Smulders does not get a new regular gig on TV, you can almost always assume that the possibility is open for her to make a guest spot on Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD.” Heck, even when she does have another job, it is still possible that it could work out.

In a new interview this week on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the former “How I Met Your Mother” star confirmed that she is bringing Maria Hill back for at least one more episode of the ABC show this season. This coincides with the massive hype train for “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” a movie that the show is even bracing for. Thanks to the way in which schedule is happening this season, there are episodes of “Agents of SHIELD” following the film in the same way that there was after “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” that helped to set up the downfall of SHIELD.

What is exciting about all of this is that you get to see the aftermath of the Ultron saga perhaps so much more than you would get to otherwise. However, the disadvantage to this is that if you really want to be in the know for the show, you really have to find a way to see the movie as soon as possible. Good luck finding some tickets on the weekend unless you buy early!

In going back to Smulders, we’re simply thrilled to have Maria around again. We don’t imagine her becoming a regular on the show anytime soon, so we’re thrilled with however much of her we can get.
